1. Not Every Tattoo Can Be Covered Easily

Older, faded tattoos are usually easier to cover than bold, fresh ones. The size, color, and placement of your existing ink all affect what's possible. In some cases, lightening with laser may be recommended before we start.

2. The New Design Will Be Bigger

To fully conceal the original tattoo, your new design will need to be larger and darker in some areas. Be open to creative ideas — my goal is to make something that looks intentional and beautiful, not just a "patch."

3. Color Choices Matter

Darker colors like black, blue, and red are most effective in cover-ups. Pastels and lighter colors don’t mask old ink well. Your artist will carefully layer and blend tones to disguise the old work.

4. Design Flexibility Helps

Bringing in your ideas is great — but being flexible gives your artist room to design something that works with the shape and depth of your old tattoo. The more freedom you give us, the better the final result. Fine line IS NOT a good cover up concept.

5. One Session May Not Be Enough

Depending on the complexity of the cover-up, more than one session may be required. This allows for layering, healing, and refinement of the final piece.

6. Honesty is Key

We want to create something you’ll love. Share what you liked or didn’t like about your original tattoo and what you’re hoping for in your cover-up. Full transparency helps us design the best solution for you.

7. Trust the Process

Cover-ups are part art, part illusion. Your artist isn’t just drawing over old ink — they’re transforming it. Trust their vision, and you’ll walk away with a piece you’re proud to wear.
